The newest installment of the Roush Stage 3 Mustang, comes supercharged, with a full suspension package, and body kit as usual, but how does it stack up.
This generation of Mustangs has no shortage of high performance offspring both from the factory and from aftermarket companies like Saleen and Shelby. The Stage 3 does set itself apart from the pack in some ways though.

The newest installment of the Roush Stage III
|
This is a picture of the Roush Blackjack, which is simply a standard (even more rare) version of the 2007 Stage 3. Roush is only producing 100 blackjacks so if you can get your hands on one, consider yourself lucky. As Roush puts it, the new Blackjack is: "Available in any color you like as long as it is "midnight black." |
|
As with the previous generation of Roush Stage 3's, there is always a new front end to be expected. |
|
Very aggressive rear end, with the addition of a rear spoiler, and enlarged dual exhaust system integrated into the Stage 3 rear bumper. Of course, don't miss the '3' on the badge. |
|
The Roushcharger on the 2007 Stage III comes standard, and boost the power output to 415 bhp, and 385 ft/lbs of torque (along with other modifications). The Roushcharger is a roots/screw type supercharger that sits atop the intake manifold to give instant power, even at lower RPM's. |
|
The Roush Stage 3 is also available in a convertible form. All the same mods are included with the addition of a light bar. |

The 4.6L supercharged engine also has new intake manifolds, radiator, an intercooler, cold air intake, and tuned computer chip which brings its output to 415 hp, 385 tq. While this is less horsepower than a similarly priced Shelby GT500, its upgraded suspension and brakes certainly make up for the power. |

It should be pointed out that the Roush was not expected to sell quite as many due to the Shelby GT500 being offered, direct from the factory with 500HP. But while the Shelby where the Shelby left off in Handling the Roush picked up. This was to be expecting, since Jack Roush has a very long history of road racing
In the end, if you are just interested in shear power then the Shelby GT500 would be your best bet as it has a larger 5.4 supercharged engine and produces more horsepower and torque at a lower price tag (if you can find one at MSRP).
On the other hand, if you want a complete car that is capable of handling all the curves you throw at it, and it at home almost anywhere you put it, then take a look at the new Stage 3 roush, it will not disappoint. |
